Wear Something Cotton.

Cotton is an incredible plant, cotton flowerswith centuries of history with mankind.  It has a delicate flower that turns different shades of pink, yellow and white in less than 24 hours.  In a field it is stunning.  But most thrilling is the change, not unlike  yellow dandelions turning to silver puffs spheres, the cotton plant matures dramatically from pastel flower to puff balls bursting out of their green casing.  Will you be able to guess which cloth is made from cotton, in a blind touch test?

Bring back your Plushies to finish sewing or start a new one with our COTTON scraps or ones you bring yourself.

Track-your-TTo learn more about how the Cotton in the Tshirt you are wearing got onto your back, check out this wonderfully illustrated, kid-friendly site that takes you through an ORGANIC Cotton farm that uses LADYBUGS instead of pesticides; to the mill; the factory; another mill and the world of commerce.

And there is more history in the Southern States of America, as Cotton initially wasn’t profitable enough to grow.  But a man by the name of Eli Whitney changed all that.  See a brief highlight of his life in MineCraft-style here.Eliminecraft

Cotton has shackled many a nation, including India, where Ghandi encouraged people to stop wearing any cotton shipped to England to be woven and shipped back to India and sold at a high cost.  Instead, he asked people to only wear HOMESPUN (Khadi).  In the fall, you can go a few hours north and participate in a Cotton harvest and even attend the 54th Annual Cotton Festival in Corcoran, CA. kid-paradeIndia-Cottonharvest cotton
